WHAT IS 'KIEF'

Historically, kief has many interpretations and meanings depending on where you are in the world and who you ask. The core concept is to collect the resin glands once severed from the plant.

When making kief, the purpose is to collect the residual trichomes that are lost through contact when handling material. The sensitive trichomes are accumulated at the bottom of a screen but depending on the size of the holes used, will have varying degrees of contamination with other plant matter. 

The 2 most common occurrences to make kief are; when trimming dry material and when grinding buds when preparing to consume.

EXTRA TIP

• Place your grinder in the freezer for 5-10 minutes and then lightly tap it on a table or countertop. Creating a cold environment facilitates the material piling up and makes it easier to handle; especially if it's sticky.
